A26: Building a self-driving robot on Google Cloud

  • Alloy 26 100 South Commons Pittsburgh, PA, 15212 United States (map)

In this talk, you will hear about our work to build a self-driving robot and the technical challenges we faced. You will see a live demonstration of two robots playing a game of ball against each other.

We set out to build a robot that could participate in a local robot derby contest and were inspired by the self-driving work happening in Pittsburgh. We leveraged a lot of technology along the way, both open source and from Google Cloud, including things like TensorFlow, Node.js, Google IoT Core, PubSub, App Engine, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, etc.

We hope you get excited about building something fun and exciting yourself, pushing the limits of your knowledge and imagination, setting difficult goals so that you can learn while achieving them and grow professionally. Google Cloud Platform is a great place to do all that - it is very easy to use and provides generous free tiers so developers can experiment and build things without spending a fortune on infrastructure.
